I added some new photos into the sports-section today. These were shot a few weeks ago in Honkahalli, a local basketball venue. The athletes in these photos are the Vanjoki brothers, Viljami & Anselmi. This was a really nice photoshoot, and I’m hoping to continue shooting more of these types of photos in the future.
And so that this post would help you to learn something new today, I thought I’d discuss about the lighting that was used in the photo on the left (my personal favourite from this shoot).
I had two Falcon Eyes -lights with medium-sized softboxes on both sides of the subject, both at about 1/16. And in addition to that I set-up an overhead flash about 10 feet (3 metres) away from the subject - to fill in the shadows. This gave me a really nice and balanced lighting, which also helped in creating this dramatic look.
The slight “fog” that you see in the photo was created in Photoshop and then I did some basic color work and dodging & burning to finish this one off. Voilá! We are done!
